Iyengar Yoga Retreat
From the roots to the sky, travelling through the spine
with Kristina Assimakopoulou
From the tips of the toes and heels to the crown of the head and fingertips…
We will journey together and experience how correct alignment can help us
ground ourselves, create space within and lift us upwards!
During this week we will try to join body and mind, by using the precision of postures (asanas) and by placing our focus on different areas of our bodies.
We will examine together the messages our bodies convey and respond.
By being attentive during this process, we can gain new insights on ourselves.
The purpose and joy in the practice of asana is not about doing the perfect posture, it’s precisely to use them as a tool in order to understand and transform ourselves.
Throughout the week Kristina will accompany you in your yogic journey, whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced yogi who wants to deepen their practice. Furthermore, since Kristina assists therapeutic yoga classes, she is well able to support you in your practice with the necessary adjustments and guidance.
Some practical notes on how our week will roll out…
The retreat starts on Saturday September 1st, with a welcome yoga session at 18:00 followed by dinner. You can arrive earlier during the day to have some time to rest and settle before we start our practice.
The following days we will have two yoga sessions daily (except one afternoon off), the morning practice (from 8:00-9:45), will be dynamic and rejuvenating while the evening (from 18:30–20:00), will be more focused on restorative asanas, breathing and relaxation.
In between classes you will have plenty of free time to relax, swim or do whatever is good for you on that particular day!
There will be one evening without a yoga session or dinner, so that you’ll have the opportunity to discover the surrounding Mani area (Ancient Messini, mountain gorges, or other beautiful landscapes, there are simply too many options).
To round up our retreat journey, we will have a special treat during one of our evening sessions, when the delicate notes of a classical guitar will accompany our relaxation. To help us disconnect or simply flow with the music…
The last day of the retreat will start with a yoga session and breakfast as usual and then you can continue your journey.

“The classes, the wonderful teacher, the progress we all made, and the physical as well as mental well-being this brought, the place and its beauty, the kindness of people – all of this made the retreat a memorable experience!” Anonymous
“A physical and mental well-being was felt almost immediately and a couple of times a vivid and powerful experience, difficult to describe, a sort of perception of my inner strength and a connection to “everything” (I felt this towards the end of two sessions).” Anonymous
“We took the time to take care of ourselves. Everything contributed to each person’s well-being. The welcome, the organisation, the place, the quality of the classes, Kristina’s generosity, the group, the respect, the calmness… Everything made this week a beautiful and memorable experience and I returned peaceful, serene and in great shape!” Monique
“Rejuvenating and wonderful week outside the boundaries of time!” Corinne
“The yoga classes were really good! Very well prepared, we felt continuity and a direction towards which we were heading… I felt that my physical and mental condition improved in a gentle way, I never felt any aching! I really liked the explanations at the end of the class, which helped us understand what we were doing and where we were going.” Elena
